The new iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone Xr
So, it’s that time of the year again and Apple has announced their new range of iPhones to make you ‘need’ the latest and greatest. Having said that, is it worth it? Is the new range of iPhones really that much greater than the previous version?
More often than not, the features that are added to the new iPhone compared to the previous versions is absolutely minuscule that it does not justify you forking out an enormous sum of money to have tiny features that they add to the phone which you as a user sometimes don’t even notice. Some of the features might be things that most users never even use, but you pay for it because it is new. Have they added enough from their side to justify you having to bring yours (i.e. pay the large amount of money)?
iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max
Comparing the iPhone Xs to other iPhones
When comparing the various iPhones to each other, which ones do you compare? How far back do you have to go to make it fair? Do you look at performance or features or both? The iPhone Xs is just the iPhone X with a few added features as Apple always does when bringing out an ‘s’ model of the previous model and then they just add a new feature or 2 the next year. We all know well and truly that the apps and operating systems are made more resource intensive which in turn makes your old iPhone slower and makes you as a user more frustrated and having to buy a new iPhone to keep your sanity. Others just ‘need’ the latest and greatest for the image of it, but in fact, most users of mobile phones only use a very small percentage of the phones capabilities. This makes you wonder if having the latest and greatest is really worth it or do you just use it a fashion accessory and not what is inside?

Price Tag
When releasing the iPhone X and Apple announced the record price tag on it, many consumers complained and stated that it is absolutely ludicrous putting a price tag of $1000 on a smartphone phone. In the same time span (from September 2017 – September 2018), Apple has gone on to being the first company to be worth $1 trillion. This clearly indicates that although consumers will moan, mumble and grumble about the price tag, that won’t stop them from purchasing the “ludicrously priced” phones and boosting Apple’s profits.
If that wasn’t enough, Apple has gone and done the same thing again bumping up the price of the top model iPhone Xs Max by slapping a price tag of almost $1449 on it. Being early days and customers being shocked about the price, Apple is sure to go from strength to strength with this new mega priced iPhone Xs Max.
Comparison Results
Baring in mind that the comparison is very superficial (most users won’t realise most of them anyway) there seems to be a very clear indication that for users that have an iPhone X there will be no reason to by the iPhone Xs. So they can definitely save their money and wait for the next iPhone.
The iPhone Xr, which is the budget version of the new iPhone Xs (the same as they did when bringing out the iPhone 5 C), this phone is physically a bigger phone with a few less features. The size might make it a bit bulky for some users and having to choose, the iPhone X might be a much better buy and could possibly be purchased for a better price in comparison seeing that it is not the newest model anymore.
The previous versions of the iPhones were very much the same up to the point of the iPhone 6s (author’s opinion) as this is where Apple Pay and the 3D Touch were implemented on the phone. Counting the features that are the same or similar makes it also an option to consider should you have an older iPhone or if one would consider an iPhone as their mobile phone.
