Translating Earbuds

Ever struggled to understand what someone is saying due to a heavy accent or being in a foreign country where you do not speak the language and you just cannot find one single person who speaks English? Or how about being somewhere, where people are speaking a language that you don’t understand and either being curious as to what they are saying or wondering if they are talking about you? Maybe you just feel like the odd one out when everyone laughs about a joke that someone made in a language that you don’t understand and you feel left out…

Situations could vary, but the point still stands; not understanding what someone is saying isn’t always (if ever) a good feeling. Learning a new language takes time and time is the one thing that we have less and less of in today’s fast paced society. Travelling has become much easier as of late and more accessible to a larger population of the world. Having a total of 7102 languages spoken in the world, it is impossible to learn them all. Even though Mandarin is the most recommended language to learn, the factor of having the time to do so makes it difficult.

So rather than sitting on wondering what the people near you are saying or whether they are gossiping about you, now you can actually understand what they are saying as they speak. The  Google Pixel Buds can instantly translate 40 different languages on the fly (or in realtime).

Seeing that there are 7102 languages in the world, the Google Pixel Buds will hardly be the answer to everyone’s needs and setting you back $159, you will need to way up how much the Pixel Buds will help you. The earbuds are however a very good start in helping you understand a variety of foreign languages comparing the device to how long it will take you to learn 40 different languages.

The earbuds work (as most technical devices nowadays) with an app (application) that you download onto your smartphone and they (earbuds) have a working time of up to 5 hours from being fully charged. The app can also help others to understand you by translating what you say to them.

As the Google Pixel Buds have been very recently launched, the reviews on these devices are very limited, however they do seem like they will be the answer to many needs (especially in the travelling sector). Looking at the fact that the earbuds only cover 0.56% of the global languages, there is most definitely much room for growth. That being said, this device most definitely solves a problem that many individuals have on a daily basis.
