Apple vs ‘Samesung’
Saying that Samsung is better than Apple, is like saying Nissan is better than Ferarri.
Things are not just as straightforward as that, but Samesung just has that ring to it. There are many other smartphone brands that also make use of Android that follow in Samsung’s footsteps. Apple has taken very strong and bold moves in the recent past which have been mocked by the public. First it was the headphone jack that got remote when the iPhone 7 came out. Many people absolutely lost their minds saying how ridiculous it is and slandering Apple for this. Now, just a year later, Google is doing the same with the Google Pixel 2. They are doing this when just a year before they mocked Apple for doing exactly the same thing. They can reason all they want in terms of why they are doing it (and how it’s different to Apple’s reasoning), but they definitely would not have made such a bold move first. This is why Apple is such a strong company, they see where the future is heading and they make the strong bold moves that Samsung and other manufacturers using Android would never dare do first.
Next Samsung was praised for the wonderful eye scanning security system that they launched with the Samsung S8. It was the the best thing and everyone loved it. Only months later Apple revealed the 3D face scanning security system with the iPhone X and everybody goes on about how silly, ridiculous, or downright stupid it is. Then only 1 month later, Android phone makers yet again rush to copy Apple’s amazing 3D face scanning system.
Apple now has released a document scanning function to the iPhone. There are many apps that do very much the same sort of thing, but in terms of a built in function in the OS, will Samsung follow suit? The nice think is that the scan function work with the Notes application which means it will be very easily accessible from all you Apple devices.
In 2013, when rumours were going around that Apple (and Samsung too) would bring out 3D screens for their flagship model phones. Many would think that this would be the next move as it was at the tips of everyone’s tongue. What many did not know, is that LG actually had a phone already released with a 3D screen. Apple and Samsung obviously noticed the lack of attention that this phones got from consumers, and they never bothered to pursue this function on their phones.
Apple Following Samsung
Samsung have however made a few moves themselves to try and outrun Apple. The difference between the two however, is that Samsung follows what rumours say and what customers want. This is a good way to be popular with customers (which results is sales), but they do not follow where technology is moving towards necessarily.
For instance, Samsung first made use of the OLED screen with a much sharper display, and it also helps to save battery life. This type of screen also has a shorter lifespan than the LCD screen that Apple used to use on their iPhone. Apple is only using the OLED type display, however yet again, they will be developing their own type of OLED or AMOLED display. So we will have to wait and see the quality of this display and whether competitors will be coping that too.
Then there is also the factor of phones becoming waterproof. Samsung have made the first move in making their S5 model waterproof. Apple was at that time focusing on developing the iPad Pro (which Samsung still have not produced a competing product for), so they produced the waterproof function in their next model.
Apple have also made a very (if not the most) important decision in the company’s history and today they are still reaping the rewards from it. This decision has made them the amazing force that they are today and still their competition aren’t replicating it. Have a look at the video below:
Apple’s ‘Crazy’ Decision Was Their Best Ever
Apple’s Product Quality
Apple’s products are made of a very high end quality, which makes it last much longer (if you look after it). If you were to compare the iPhone 5s and the Samsung Galaxy S4 in terms of functionality, after (going on) 5 years, the iPhone is still able to update to the latest software. Working with the phone, you don’t see the difference in speed of working from the first day it was bought. When updating the Samsung S4 to the newest OS, there are a few features of the phone that does not seem to work. This can be fixed with new releases, but Android phones tend to slow down more with newer releases.
The chips with which the iPhone works is always very much ahead of any of its competitors. This helps with functionality, and competitors have never been able to much the newest versions of the chips that are released in the newest iPhones.
Comparing Apple to Samsung
Many people are comparing Apple to Samsung, where in actual reality it is like comparing Ferarri to Nissan.
Nissan has various models from cheap (like the Nissan Micra) up to expensive (Nissan GTR). In the very same way, Samsung has many cheap models of phones to the more expensive models. When looking at Nissan’s global sales each year and you compare it to Ferarri’s global annual sales, the amounts of sales that Nissan do are way more than Ferarri. Does this make Ferarri less of a good car when being compared to Nissan? Most definitely not.
The same goes for Apple and Samsung. Samsung have entry level, less expensive phones, which many people buy, because the flagship models are too expensive. In the same way as Nissan vs Ferarri, does this make Samsung better than Apple? You do the math…
